Annelieke van Genk was born on a sunny Friday, June 9, 2000, in Den Hout, North Brabant. From an early age, she developed a passion for dance, which naturally evolved into a love for acting and singing. At just four years old, she began taking dance lessons at the local dance school, where she trained in a variety of styles including jazz dance and modern jazz until the age of sixteen.
After completing secondary school, Annelieke continued her education at the MBO Theatre School in Rotterdam. During her second year, she combined this program with the preparatory course at the Frank Sanders Academy for Musical Theatre. Her enthusiasm for the academy led her to audition successfully and, at eighteen, she moved to Amsterdam to pursue the full program at the Frank Sanders Academy. She graduated in July 2022.
During her training, Annelieke studied under esteemed teachers such as Margot Giselle, Frank Sanders, Peter van Dosselaer, Yannick Plugers, Wil van der Meer, and Tetske van Ossewaarde. She also broadened her artistic skills through masterclasses with renowned performers including Pia Douwes, Doris Baaten, Marjolijn Touw, and Barrie Stevens.
Annelieke is a mezzo-soprano with a vocal range from G3 to D6. As a musical theatre performer, she seamlessly blends vocal strength and emotional nuance convincingly delivering both powerful belt numbers and classical repertoire. Her warm, rich voice enables her to express a wide spectrum of emotions and characters on stage. This blend of singing and acting makes her a truly versatile performer.
Just one day after graduation, in July 2022, Annelieke premiered her own musical program “Bestemming bereikt?”(“Destination Reached?”) alongside Rick van Stalle. The show, featuring both well-known and lesser-known Dutch songs, was performed at Theater De Schelleboom in Oosterhout (NB).
Currently, Annelieke is working as a performer at Efteling, portraying a variety of enchanting roles. For two years, she also played the cheerful character Mrs. Cotton Candy (Mevrouw Suikerspin) at Children’s Theme Park Julianatoren. Annelieke is an actress and singer through and through — continually exploring new opportunities within her craft. She is currently receiving coaching and vocal training from Goele de Raedt to further refine her artistic abilities.
